Have been buying just the Christmassy issues of "Cross Stitcher" and "World of Cross Stitching" for 2 years now. And somehow I just have to admit that I am not a knitter but a stitcher. All I have knitted so far were 3 scarves. Haven't even started "purling" yet, and am amazed how much wool can cost. It's cheaper to buy a jumper than knit one!!! Shame, actually. I'd rather knit a jumper and know that I've done it myself....

So... I will cancel my subscription to "Simply Knitting" after the Christmas issue. Think the December issue is the last one in the quarterly payments anyway. Am I going to subscribe to one of the Cross Stitching mags again? Not sure, but think not for a bit. Yet have to start stitching again, and am "behind" with the stitching for my friend's charity "Blinkie Patrol" in the USA. Just too much on this year really.

Wondering if there was much positive stuff this year of if we should just erase it from our memory? So far I can see more negatives than positives (the only positive probably me quitting my job!!!)... :(

Seriously, I do know what you mean. Sometimes it seems like all that we can focus on is the negative things, but I am sure there are positives there too!

Welcome to the BritBowl XXI house... Day 1

Well... Friday usually doesn't count for the FANS of BritBowl, but the helpers start much earlier. :) We left Edinburgh at 2pm, fully packed car with the BAFL Shop stuff we didn't sell at our home games and a poor Allan being slightly cramped on the single back seat. Weather to start with was ok - so no horrendous rain like last year!!! Had a fairly good drive down the A1 but when we arrived before Newcastle we had the annual problem with the bridge crossing!! Don't know why, but arriving at the bridge at 3:30pm just doesn't work. We were stuck for about 15 mins for no apparent reason!! :( And yes, we had the same problem last year. Once we got past the Angel of the North, the traffic was flowing again. There was a car with a nocked bonnet on the other side with a police car around, so I can only assume it's that "human curiosity/morbidity" that made the traffic slow down. Phew!!! Took me longer than I thought!!! :) Maybe I should leave the crafty bits out ... I am a slow scrapper after all (found that out at the Cyber Crop!!). But have to say I LOVE that LO. Used acetate with stazon white opaque (over photo), snowflake eyelets, snowflake button and snowflake vellum sticker. The prompt today suggested we cut a paper snowflake ... well, I had three attempts and am absolutely rubbish at it!! So I decided I try my luck with a quilled snowflake ... first time ever for me to do a snowflake and you can see the wonky result! LOL.

Still struggling with sleep deprivation from Superbowl on Sunday, but hey … maybe I’ll get finally to sleep BEFORE midnight. And since 11am this morning the “little secret” from the Adamsons is now not a secret anymore. WE ARE PREGNANT WITH TWINS!!!!  The IVF run in December was positive (typical, the one we thought won’t do anything and we’ll have to go down to London to get immune issues checked out), and we had our official 12 week scan today. Both Chip and Chap are doing fine, are moving about, have all limbs and noses and chins and heartbeats. And I’m feeling as if a big rock’s been removed from my shoulders … have been reading too many horror stories about twin pregnancies resulting in just one baby born or even losing both. Think with 5 years IVF in the bag we know far too much about the medical background and are more likely to worry about what COULD go wrong instead of “enjoying the pregnancy”.
