I think they got it!!!

Today we decided to go swimming. Unfortunately, the weather in Germany is grey and overcast like at home, but at least the temperatures are higher!! Smile

So, indoor swimming instead of outdoor pool (doubt we’ll get to do that this trip at all), this time at the Rebstockbad as per suggestion from one of mum’s friends. The girls loved the kiddy pool with its slides. The temperature was nicely warm, and depth about 50 cm. They wore their armbands we got from Helga last year, which are round and you can inflate them. After a while, with me and hubby lying back in the pool, Supergirl got the hang of floating, she even put her feet up out of the water. Miss Martian followed suit soon, and because Supergirl was playing happily along with one of the other kids in the pool, Doug decided to take Miss Martian into the learning pool (cooler and deeper), which seemed a success, as they came back to get us. Both had fun in that pool, floating about, slightly trying to “paddle” around, so the next step was to take them into the “wave pool”, which has a slope going from nothing to very deep and where there are waves every 15 mins. Again the girls loved it, and when the waves were switched on, we retreated into a “cove” where there were still enough for the girls to bop around (only with parental help obviously).  Lots of squealing to be heard here!

After the waves we decided to have lunch, and while Supergirl decided to topple over with a camping chair (those plastic ones), she was fine and quickly calmed with a couple of chips.

We just had enough time to quickly take some photographs while the girls were in the wave pool to show they’re floating (I’m sooo glad that the German’s are not so overly CP as the Brits, so we CAN take photos of our own kids as long as no other kids/people are in the photos) and then we had to get out to get changed, as our time was up.

We’ll be going swimming again next week, but it will be an indoor pool again, as the weather forecast is dull and even the temperatures are not good for outdoor pools… Sad smile

There’s the hope they will float again, so we can get rid of their swim seats, as they hopefully won’t need them again (and it will give us a lot more space in suitcases or swim bags in future!!).

Day 1 : Things can only get better….

Arrival at the airport and being in the lounge were fine, the Hobbitses LOVE riding on the trunkies, and the amount of people who were looking at us and commenting was quite high. The girls did get a bit excited in the lounge, so we had to resort to an episode of “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse” on the Archos.

The flight itself was fine, Supergirl and Daddy slept for a bit, Miss Martian decided to stay awake, needing to share my salad with me as well as my “Apfelschorle” (Apple juice with sparkling water – drink of choice for me in Germany). But the minute we touched down she was nodding off!! Fortunately, she woke up again once we walked into the main building (sleeping on my shoulder beforehand) and transferred the girls to the trunkies again (we’re soooo glad we asked Uncle Neil to get them as the girls’ Christmas presents, specially after the nightmare December trip to Germany!

Got picked up by my mum and big sis as usual, the girls were a bit shy at the beginning but warmed very quickly to their Oma and Tante Patsy.

Getting settled at my mum’s was quick, girls started playing with their toys, we had lots of fun, and then suddenly all hell broke loose when Doug announced his tummy was not right and dashed to the toilet.
24 hours later, and he’s had the first solids at dinner a couple of hours ago, any thoughts of rushing him to the hospital for emergency GP services (the one that used to be around my mum’s new flat where I was doing volunteer service 20 years ago does not exist anymore – THAT would have been handy, as it’s just around the block). Several times during the night we thought he’d need an saline drip, and he quarantined himself in the toilet (fortunately my mum’s new flat has a bathroom with a toilet, too), slept in those cramped quarters and only came to bed at 6pm.

For me it was not the best of nights, didn’t help that Supergirl was absolutely not going over until I took her with me into bed at 11pm – then she was out like a light within 30 mins!

Felt bad that I had to send my mum shopping for the girls yesterday evening (shops in Germany are CLOSED on Sundays) as well as getting some meds from the Emergency Pharmacy which is a service provided amongst a couple of towns around here, so you sometimes have to drive a bit to get your emergency meds/prescriptions.

Today it was mostly me and mum with the girls, while Doug caught up with sleep until 3pm. Girls a bit off their food (have to acclimatise to German food), but just ate less, not any other troubles. In the afternoon we took them to the play park we found in December just around the corner from my mum’s flat – it’s absolutely fabulous, and the girls LOVE it! Smile

Girls now in bed, Supergirl still kicking up fuss and not wanting to sleep, this time Doug’s looking after them.
After last night/this morning things can only get better…

It’s coming!!!

Have been checking older blog posts in the last hour while the Hobbitses are sleeping, and remembered how much fun I had doing Rinda’s Photo Scavenger Hunt 2012!!  And while reading comments to my Scavenger Hunt blog posts and then blog hopping, I found the new link for the 2013 Scavenger hunt!!! YAY!!!

Well… not the list just yet, but the reminder. The hunt will start 1. June, and Rinda will be posting the list and full guidelines the same day.

I really had lots of fun last year, so will definitely take part again – and hope that lots of my friends will take part, too! Smile

Blame it on the weather…

Been battling with cold bugs again the last 2 months – I blame the girls, who always LOVE sharing cold bugs with me (such nice kids, aren’t they? Winking smile ), and somehow the bug is always worse with me, like 6 months of dry coughs etc. The weird weather doesn’t really help either!

Been otherwise busy, too, with prepping hubby’s comic & toy mart selling stuff (spending evenings ticketing comic books – 6 boxes of them!) and all in all just not having the urge to blog. BAD!!

Right now in the “rush” to get things sorted for our family visit again, so just short note today while the girls are asleep – we have a PJ day for them (I really should have stayed in mine, too) as we all have runny/stuffy noses and I got headaches to go with it due to interrupted/short nights (Supergirl has nasty cough which *could* be croup – need doctors appointment tomorrow).

I haven’t been doing much scrapping lately, apart from the layout for the Chinese Whisper we run at our crop right now. I bought some things at Sincerely Yours though, including one 3 D-Ring album (my first, YAY!) and several packs of divided page protectors in different ways (I “blame” Shimelle for this). I also saw the first SN@P albums, which I am more partial to using than the SMASH books. Considering getting one (or more) for this year’s JYC.

As for not scrapping much – I really have to get into setting up page kits, but I think my embellies are giving me a headache. It’s still all a jumble in the spare bedroom (which is supposed to be the new study at some point – hopefully before we move it again when the girls want their own rooms!! Winking smile ), nothing really sorted, and I seem to have problems putting them into page kits or finding the right ones for layouts. Watching some “Glitter Girl” videos right now (the girls LOVE the “theme” music and always come running once I start a new video!) in hope of inspiration.
