Today’s catch up…

3. Birds on a wire

4. A group of tourists

5. A rack of post cards

8. A tattoo on a person

(that might be a substitute needed… can’t just take a photo at the gym of strangers’ tattoos!!)

9. A bakery

10. A photo bomb (someone found lurking in the background of photo; the lurker may have intended to disrupt the picture or may be doing it unintentionally, but the background lurker is a surprise to the photographer)

007002
Japanese Garden at Lauriston Castle – it’s a very tranquil and beautiful place (as are the other parts of the castle grounds) and you also get a nice sea view!

20. A bus (not a car, truck, lorry, camper or RV) with a picture painted on its sides.

21. A photograph of you with something representing the season (recognizing that the season will be Winter for our friends in the southern hemisphere). Note: you may not use a substitute for this item.

Mmmmh… will have to ask hubby to take a photo today I’d say…

If you find something on the list too difficult, you may substitute one of the following items for anything on the list, except for Item #21:
Alternative A: A kite, hot air balloon or blimp

Alternative B: A bird house

So… a sunrise, a tattoo and a photo of me with something that represents the season to go for tomorrow … am I going to manage it????

Still Scavenging ..

Doubt I’ll get everything done this round (or use the substitute for one instead of it counting as an extra).

I’m down with sinusitis, and for next year I have to figure out a better way to have the “photos to take” list better at hand. Reminder on the phone per day maybe? Who knows …

Bakery
While at home we’re not going to bakeries … and I don’t really count Gregg’s as bakery (and we don’t go there either). So this is a photo of the bakery inside Tesco (courtesy of hubby while I was resting up).
Funnily enough… when visiting my family in Germany we’re frequently going to bakeries… Winking smile

10. A photo bomb (someone found lurking in the background of photo; the lurker may have intended to disrupt the picture or may be doing it unintentionally, but the background lurker is a surprise to the photographer)

Underbelly Edinburgh is part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The Underbelly is situated in Bristo Square (University of Edinburgh Campus effectively). The “Udderbelly” is the (one could say) mascot of the Underbelly – it’s an upside down purple cow (huge inflatable).

Here’s a photo of it in better light … NOT TAKEN BY ME.

13. A sunrise
Will have to try that tomorrow morning… with the current weather there might be nothing to see, but I will try my best…

14. A parade

15. A juggler

Need some distraction…

Independence Vote for Scotland, we’ve voted … and while I made up my mind (was sitting on the fence until this week!), I’ve got a heavy feeling with all that. Either way the vote goes, there will be a blaming culture again… hope that there are not too man rifts with friends/families (not just mine).

Ok… might ponder over that later. Let’s see how I can get some distraction that is not housework… Winking smile

UPDATE FOR PHOTO SCAVENGER HUNT

Right… don’t think I’m doing too great this year … might have to use some of the “substitutions”…

1. A sign welcoming people to your home town (or a nearby town)

2014-08-25 16.36.30
(Damhead is just outside Edinburgh (not sure if actually part of Edinburgh) – taken after a quick toilet break near a field for both girls – had to turn off the motorway for that! Winking smile )

2. A garden gnome

3. Birds on a wire

2014-09-16 15.42.11

(we don’t have that many wires around for birds to sit in!)

4. A group of tourists

5. A rack of post cards

6. An urban street scene

7. A rural landscape

043

8. A tattoo on a person

9. A bakery

10. A photo bomb (someone found lurking in the background of photo; the lurker may have intended to disrupt the picture or may be doing it unintentionally, but the background lurker is a surprise to the photographer)

11. A horn

12. A mascot

13. A sunrise

14. A parade

034
Penguins on Parade at Edinburgh Zoo. The Parade is on every day at 2:15pm, but the animals are not being forced to take part, so we had a few days where the parade didn’t take part as the Penguins didn’t want to come out of the enclosure.

15. A juggler

16. A sign in a language other than English

17. A lamp post

18. A water fall

19. A public garden

20. A bus (not a car, truck, lorry, camper or RV) with a picture painted on its sides.

2014-08-18 17.08.26
Lothian Buses have several of their buses painted with pictures for their destinations. One Terminus on this one is Penicuik, a town outside Edinburgh. It derives from Pen Y Cog  (as painted on the bus), meaning “Hill of the Cuckoo” in Old Brythonic.

21. A photograph of you with something representing the season (recognizing that the season will be Winter for our friends in the southern hemisphere). Note: you may not use a substitute for this item.
If you find something on the list too difficult, you may substitute one of the following items for anything on the list, except for Item #21:
Alternative A: A kite, hot air balloon or blimp

Alternative B: A bird house

Right… I think I can manage to get a couple more before end of the 22nd September. Hopefully. Smile

First Day at Nursery

(or: WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE???)

002

Today was the first day at nursery(well… first hour, as they do staggered time to get the children used to the time without parents etc.).

Both Supergirl and Miss Martian loved it, they’re both in different groups (Miss Martian in the Green Group, Supergirl in the Yellow Group) but have also time together.

I was very surprised that they both chose to have snacks at different tables, so would say the “split” is probably a good idea to develop more individually.

I was glad to hear that Miss Martian’s nursery teacher is also left handed, so she will be able to show her how to use scissors etc. with her left hand!! Open-mouthed smile

Miss Martian was all in puddles after the 1 hour – she didn’t want to leave!!!

Despite it not being our first choice nursery, it seems to be a nice one, and I think they will settle in nicely.

Tomorrow we’re at nursery for 1.5 hours, and I think I will skip out for a bit to do some shopping (today I was shown the nursery and got all the info needed I think, and had about 15 mins in the parent room).
