Blast from the Past...

That's what's happening when you sign up for those "Friends Reunited" websites ... in my case it's "Wer kennt wen". And it's quite scary, but I've found already 34 people I know. Lots of them I haven't seen even prior to me moving to the UK in autumn 1998!! And it's just GREAT!!! I wish I could just meet up with them at some point. And there are soooo many that I am still "searching for". ;)

Another thing was that when I was searching for music for my playlist (right column) I came across ONE German Song quite by accident, from one of my favourite bands back in the 80s & 90s (Pur). Now I am sitting here and listen to the CDs I got from them (11!!) plus 2 more CDs from German Bands.

And of course that brings back TONS of memories... ;) Right now I am wondering what would have been if I hadn't moved to the UK. Would I be married? Would I have started yet another "circle of friends"? What kind of job would I do? One thing I am nearly certain about is that I wouldn't be a scrapper! :) Nor would I be involved in American Football (apart from maybe watching). SCARY, the 2 things that have huge impact on my life right now.

How about you? What do you think would have happened if you would have taken a different turn in life?

It is always interesting to think about where we might have ended up if we'd NOT done something... If himself and I had waited for him to finish school and come to the states, I'd probably still be working at American Airlines... I'd certainly be stamping, singing and scrapping -- but I probably would not have signed up to be a CM consultant over here... and I wouldn't have met so many awesome people (you included).

And hey -- if you ever want to swap via mail (US stuff for UK stuff like food...) please let me know!

Welcome to the BritBowl XXI house... Day 1

Well... Friday usually doesn't count for the FANS of BritBowl, but the helpers start much earlier. :) We left Edinburgh at 2pm, fully packed car with the BAFL Shop stuff we didn't sell at our home games and a poor Allan being slightly cramped on the single back seat. Weather to start with was ok - so no horrendous rain like last year!!! Had a fairly good drive down the A1 but when we arrived before Newcastle we had the annual problem with the bridge crossing!! Don't know why, but arriving at the bridge at 3:30pm just doesn't work. We were stuck for about 15 mins for no apparent reason!! :( And yes, we had the same problem last year. Once we got past the Angel of the North, the traffic was flowing again. There was a car with a nocked bonnet on the other side with a police car around, so I can only assume it's that "human curiosity/morbidity" that made the traffic slow down. Phew!!! Took me longer than I thought!!! :) Maybe I should leave the crafty bits out ... I am a slow scrapper after all (found that out at the Cyber Crop!!). But have to say I LOVE that LO. Used acetate with stazon white opaque (over photo), snowflake eyelets, snowflake button and snowflake vellum sticker. The prompt today suggested we cut a paper snowflake ... well, I had three attempts and am absolutely rubbish at it!! So I decided I try my luck with a quilled snowflake ... first time ever for me to do a snowflake and you can see the wonky result! LOL.

Official!!!

Still struggling with sleep deprivation from Superbowl on Sunday, but hey … maybe I’ll get finally to sleep BEFORE midnight. And since 11am this morning the “little secret” from the Adamsons is now not a secret anymore. WE ARE PREGNANT WITH TWINS!!!!  The IVF run in December was positive (typical, the one we thought won’t do anything and we’ll have to go down to London to get immune issues checked out), and we had our official 12 week scan today. Both Chip and Chap are doing fine, are moving about, have all limbs and noses and chins and heartbeats. And I’m feeling as if a big rock’s been removed from my shoulders … have been reading too many horror stories about twin pregnancies resulting in just one baby born or even losing both. Think with 5 years IVF in the bag we know far too much about the medical background and are more likely to worry about what COULD go wrong instead of “enjoying the pregnancy”.
