Gardening is DANGEROUS!!!

Well... I decided to finally give the front garden some attention today after waking up and realising that the weather is still nice. Of course I decided to clean the kitchen windows outside first (procrastination... I know!) but then I made my way to the weeding ... and 2 hours later most of the front garden looked fine-ish. Good enough to get those weed sheets and some stones on it I'd say. Even moved my roses so I can buy a trellis and get them growing nicely. Then I decided to put down the small fence - really just a "visual" for neighbours who like to walk through our garden and try to use our outdoor tap - kids and adults alike (not for the tap mind), so it's just about 4" high. Had been digging a "trench", got 1 of the 2 fence bits in and was just stamping the earth on our side to compact it when I lost balance and stepped over to the neighbours garden. BAD CHOICE!! As I suddenly realised I had spiked myself in the shin with a branch of a shru...

Shopping, Chai and all that

Had quite a busy day yesterday - had to go to NRIE to pick up my "sleep monitoring" kit and then had planned to meet up with Heather P and Heather R at Fort Kinnaird for a cuppa and some shopping at Borders & Hobbycrafts. Also decided to get rid of some landfill stuff we'd floating around the house since the neighbours' Sky Dish made a flight down into our garden and since we'd have our car checked. I don't like NRIE. It's the most illogical layout I've ever seen in a hospital really... :o Ok, so far I have only experiences from Germany, but that is probably a cliche then! ;) Bad enough that they make you walk through the gynie unit first before you get to the assisted conception unit (unless you park in the smaller car park up the hill ... but if you're taking the bus you really HAVE to walk through the waiting room full of preggers women etc.! If you're coming from the small car park you still have the preggers women outside SMOKING!!! ....

When it rains ...

..it's a blinking deluge here (pours is not enough!)!!! One of our coaches who was supposed to pick up the kit and a couple of players and then go to Fordell Firs directly fell sick and cannot attend the weekend. DH is one of the few who are insured to drive a van and is now loosing 3 hours he had set aside to pack his stuff and preparing things for camp because he has - AS BLIMMING USUAL - to do the fire fighting!!! Right now he's on the way to pick up the van, go to JKC to get the kit, pick up one of the players and drop off the van at another player who fortunately can drive the van! Then he has to come back (not before 7pm - he had planned to be home at 4pm!) and do all the other stuff so we won't be at Fordell Firs until approx. 9pm. THEN my Mutsch just phoned and told me that the contusion in the lumbar region last July was not a contusion at all but a blinking double break of the L2 (2nd lumbar vertebra). Her Doc got her a quick date for an OP - but of course that no...
