Hahaha... Ok, the whole "keep blogger updated" thing didn't happen, of course... what was I thinking?!?!?! With the whole crafting thing and even more the social calendar of the Hobbitses ... Ah well, let's try how it works now. The weekend saw the Edinburgh Comic Con 2016 and I was manning my own stall both days (in the past it was always hubby and his "minions" - i.e. friends of ours - who helped with this stall selling my stuff) with early mornings and lots of standing (broken up with a bit of sitting). Fab atmosphere at the new venue ( EICC ) made for real Comic Con feel, lots of space and lots of great Cosplay going on. Items sold nicely, and the Hobbitses arrived in their costumes and had lots of fun with all the people being dressed up. They LOVED Elsa (they constantly stopped on the way out of the building to shout "goodbye Elsa!!"), the Star Wars props and taking photos with the props and with Green Arrow and Harley Quinn. :) Su...

We're still having an unbroken record of homemade Halloween Costumes for the girls, 4th year running!! :) The girls only told me middle of September they wanted to go as Tigger & Eeyore instead of Supergirl & Miss Martian (the costumes from the Edinburgh Comic Con would have still fitted fine!!)... So, trying to figure out how to make the ideas work I opted for tutus and hoodies (given Scottish weather around Halloween). We'll keep the tutus for visiting Mickey (and hopefully Eeyore & Tigger will make an appearance, too!) next year, but will change tops to T'shirts instead of hoodies (given Florida heat! ;) ). Eeyore's costume was finished on Wednesday, and I decided to omit the tummy patches due to the hoodie pockets and the fact that I went with grey and should have gone with light pink & light yellow (for Tigger). I bought Tigger's tutu from my friend Elaine as she still had a Halloween Witch's one left over (and colour scheme fitted ...

Another busy week again ... really can't wait for the nursery to start up! :) On Friday the girls were "camping" ... downstairs in the living room, with daddy on the airbed beside the tent. That was the easiest solution for us to have their bedroom ready for the replacement of the old Velux Window on Saturday morning. ;) They liked it a lot, and who knows, maybe next step is sleeping out in the garden for a night ... next year? ;) Of course we had an early morning, not only for Niz to come and replace the window, but also because the girls were due to go to yet another (!!!) birthday party! Seems since nursery broke up they've been to 1-2 birthday parties each week!! And we still have 2 more to go! ;) I myself was very busy last week finishing off my first Kat's Geek Krafts order (!!) of 25 custom bags. Mmmmh... I really wish Microsoft Live writer and Blogger would sort out their problems ... so much easier to write and then upload, but hey ... just have to be on blogger itself to update *gasp!* the blog. ;) Some thoughts running through my head ... how many kids can we accommodate comfortably in our house/garden for the Hobbitses' birthday? I think taking everyone into account we may have 10 kinds around. Is that ok? We don't really want to have a big party this year with going somewhere and paying a lot of money - there's no need for it really. Garden, games and some sausages/potato salad/pasta salad was all I needed when I was a kid?! Only problem is of course that it's the two of them ... instead of just one kid, but so far they have the same friends, so no added numbers! ;) And then for craftiness ... It’s really getting to all of us, it’s raining most of the days since middle of December, or it’s windy – too windy or wet to take the girls outside for play park time!   So when we had a small blue break in the sky shortly before lunchtime I decided to pack the Hobbits up (in jackets, puddle trousers and snow boots for warmth) and take them to the park (needing fresh air and tiring them out)– just to be greeted with very strong winds. So we took out-of-date meds to the pharmacy, then over to the small play park at the doctors and then the drizzle started again. When I asked the girls what they want to do the constant answer from Supergirl was “Doctors” or “Dentist” (both being just a few steps away from the play park). So there was no playing on the swings, going down the slide or sitting on the see-saw! We went back, and the only fun I could get the girls was some puddle-hopping … after Supergirl finally let go of her hood which she held with both hands since leaving the house ...

Right … ok … DH and I had the discussion that an average 2.5 year old has a vocabulary of about 200 words apparently. And we wondered if we should be worried that our girls have a fairly big portion of geekdom/fandom in their vocabulary (Doctor Who, Tardis, Dalek, Cyberman, Loki)… Not that we conditioned them or anything. And we haven’t even STARTED them on The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings yet…     Now … I think I can claim that I was a geeky child  … must have happened much later in life, in my teens and maybe even twens. While I believe Hubby ALWAYS was a geek in one way or the other.   As for the girls… ummm… they don’t WATCH much Doctor Who and only know Loki from some Youtube stuff. And yet they seem to soak everything up, can see even the “old” Doctor Who actors and identify them properly as Doctor Who! Ok, not the best in keeping up … think I just haven’t found yet what I learned the last two days but will work on it… Today I learned that I shouldn’t try to go anywhere “new” with the Hobbits while they’re still suffering from colds/teething/nasty bottoms… We went to Bookbug today for the first time in a year, and while the girls had been to the Library for a couple of times during that year, having to sit down and having soooo many kids around (mostly babies) was probably too much for them … Supergirl was crying through half of the session (it’s Rhyme Time effectively), while Miss Martian had a ball doing some actions after warming up and LOVED doing the “Sleeping Bunnies” twice!! However, Miss Martian kicked off on the walk back home from the Library (in Hobbits Walk that’s 15 mins) and was CRYING all the way … and flopping periodically down to the ground so I had to carry her on the back of her reins. Supergirl on the other hand was all happy to walk and was even skipping ab...

Because we’re around the girls 24/7, we don’t really realise that they actually grow much, and when we measure them on the height chart, we still think they’re not in the right “height range” (they can still wear 18-24 mths clothing). However, when it comes to visiting places and them doing things they weren’t able the last time we were there, that’s when I realise that they’re actually “growing up”. Today we went to see my friend Cat (another twin mum) to borrow her Mei Tai’s as I decided that we won’t be able to take carrier backpacks with us to Germany (too bulky, and the one we borrowed from another twin mum has been sold on). Cat had her 3.5 year old twins in the Mei Tai’s while in Paris, so I thought that should be still ok for the Hobbits in December – but wanted to try them while we’re on a family break in the Borders. We agreed with our friends Chris & Andy to visit them at their new flat  (LOVED IT, nice at the waterfront etc. Just hope the land developers don’t take away the great view!!) and the girls got even more presents (we have too many good friends who are spoiling the Hobbits!!). The girls loved the Minnie Mouse Tea Party set, the small picnic basket, Minnie Mouse Tops and their new dresses (inside outie ones, courtesy of “auntie” Chris!). There was lots of cups of teas to be drunk, lots of running around in the flat, and they just LOVED the balcony!! Plans are already made to visit “auntie” Chris on her day off (Thursday) to explore more, maybe walk along the shore etc. FUN.
