Have a Happy New Year!

Image
This video has been a tradition in Germany for New Year’s Eve since I can remember, but I’ve not been watching it regularly since I moved to the UK (and I’m not able to find the videotape with it my mum sent me years ago). Thank goodness for the Internet, mmmh?? We’re going to have a quiet evening again this year, first have 2 friends over for Raclette (again, a tradition on my side of the family really) and once they’ve gone home or decided to stay over night we’re going to watch a bit TV or whatever we may have recorded or DVD (TV is going to be abysmal from what I can see!!) and then go to bed early-ish. Haven’t had a big New Year in YEAAARRS, think we’re getting old!! Oh – going through Wikipedia DH found also a Lego version of “Dinner for One”. Which traditions do you have? Have a great evening/night and all the best for 2012!!!

HAPPY HOGMANAY!!!

Ok… had dinner (Raclette! ;) ) and the washing up was done, too.  Now we’re going to sit down to watch some form of TV … or DVD (because even though we have SKY and Virgin … there’s naught interesting on!!!).  We’ve invited a couple of people for “open house” tomorrow … will see who’s coming around. Will be fun really.  No … I haven’t made any resolutions yet – and I don’t think I’ve done any last year… Maybe I’ll add some points tomorrow. :)  I doubt I will do Ali Edward’s “One Little Word” , but if I am/would do it, then I think I would chose “CHANGE”.  There’s a lot that needs changing/will change next year … so keep fingers crossed.  Ok … hubby is back from gritting our road. :) Most likely moving upstairs to avoid drunk revellers.   HAVE A HAPPY HOGMANAY – GET SAFELY INTO 2010! :)

HAPPY HOGMANAY to you all!!

Just finished eating Raclette and now have retreated to the living room watching TV (Reece Witherspoon on BBC2 - "Just Like Heaven"). May have crisps/doritos and dips later, as well as our dessert (well, that's earlier than the crisps). Then off to find a nice big blankie we can hang over the living room doors to prevent any light going out ... don't really fancy having any drunk revellers around. :) As for fireworks - today was fully overcast, so I doubt that I will be able to take any photos of the BIG fireworks, but may get some if our neighbours are putting some up for the kids. :) This year is the first in about 5 years (?) that we WON'T have rain on Hogmanay, so the people who are now in the City will have a nice night. ;) Below is a photo of a previous Hogmanay Firework - not from me, I have to add! HAPPY HOGMANAY (or NEW YEAR)!!!

And now it's there ... 2008

We stayed up until 3am this morning!! The last few minutes of 2007 we spent switching between Jools Holland's Hootenanny and the Hogmanay Show. I sent texts to friends and then nearly missed midnight!!! :D As we didn't have a chance to see the fireworks last year I took again a photo of the fireworks on TV (sad, I know... ;) ) and then hoped to see some fireworks going off at our neighbours ... but everything was dark & quiet. Wonder if they are in "hiding" like us from Hogmanay "revellers" and "First Footers"?? I dashed over into the study to get some shots of the official fireworks on Corstorphine Hill, but ... it was raining and the window was all blurry ... so I went back into the bedroom and then we saw fireworks going off just across the burn behind the block of flats. Lovely colours :) Fife looked like at war - eerie yellow/orangy lighting, fog and the sound of fireworks going off!!! We then decided to watch "We Are Marshall" ...

HAPPY HOGMANAY!!!

Is it this time of the year again already? Can't believe it!!! The first half of the year is in a blur, and the 2nd half is not much better!!! :( But hey, roll on 2008 - can't get worse I think? :) Today we had a bit of a tidy around the house, had our traditional (?!?!) Raclette and now have moved upstairs to avoid any drunk revellers. I am unable to find the "Dinner for One" Video for the 2nd year running (really have to make sure I have it for next year!!!) - DH googled it yesterday ... Interesting information there about the countries where it's being broadcasted! :) I am still trying to catch up with Shim's Christmas Journal - will do that tomorrow while DH is watching LOADS of College Football! :) But I managed today's entry. HAPPY HOGMANAY TO YOU ALL!!! ... wonder if I should suggest a little walk towards Corstorphine Hill to DH?
